Masterpiece Improv

“A hearty night of wit and comedy.” – GLAM

TIME: 7pm DATES: Thursday 20 & 27 February, Thursday 5 & 12 March

Presented by: Changing Jennifers

Changing Jennifers, Adelaide’s premier improv troupe, having dazzled audiences in Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy festivals with hilarious improvised hijinks, are seeking a new challenge. THEY CAN PERFORM ANY PLAY WITH NO PREPARATION! Changing Jennifers will perform the first part of a scripted play and then improvise the rest! Feel free to bring a script from home with your top hat and monocle and put these seasoned improvisers to the test!

No two shows are the same, no play is too hard! Always wanted to see Waiting For Godot? Bring it along and see the version that Samuel Beckett WISHED he wrote!

Changing Jennifers are a comedy improvisation troupe who specialise in long-form improvisation. They get several suggestions from the audience, a location, an era, a famous person, a magical item, anything, and then improvise an hour-long story based on those suggestions.

They perform wild and obscure stories straight from the performers’ twisted minds. No two shows are ever the same and no suggestion is too daunting for Changing Jennifers. In the same vein as classic shows ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’, ‘Thank God You’re Here’ and ‘The Mighty Boosh’, Changing Jennifers are side-splitting improvisational titans.

Artificial Intelligence is on the way, and it will be powerful. What happens to us when it arrives? How will it perceive humanity? Can it learn … to love? After getting hit on by a chatbot, one horny science fiction nerd is on a quest to make it with a new AI overlord.

Adelaide Fringe Festival reviewers gave Effing Robots four stars: they called the show “a one-woman show that is part girly-chat, part TED talk,” “geeky, funny and thought-provoking,” with “Cabe [as] a knowledgeable and passionate navigator into what is sometimes a murky, unsettling world,” gently leading the audience “on a romp through time
and cyberspace.”

As recommended by King’s River Life in Fresno, California: “It’s a Brave New World out there. Don’t be timid.

Created and performed by Nicol Cabe.

L. Nicol Cabe works in two mediums: science fiction / speculative storytelling, and theatre production.

Based in Seattle, Washington, USA, she writes and performs speculative fiction story-telling shows, directs new plays, and helps playwrights develop their work.

An award-winning solo performer, she travels the world with her speculative writing. Being primarily dystopian, she plays characters onstage who live in these worlds, which have collapsed, changed, warped, or evolved through human decisions.
